We have recently shown that bacterial SAGs produced by Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcal enterotoxin A (SEA), SEB, SEC, and toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 (TSST-1) can all stimulate human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) at very minute doses of antigens (\u0026ge;10^\u003c-4\u003e ng/ml). By contrast, when murine peripheral lymphocytes are used, SEs and TSST-1 have been segregated into two groups according to potency.
