It counts 1.5 million cases in US per year. After the introduction of laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK), the numbers of excimer laser surgeries in Japan also increased and considered to be 30,000 cases a year. With the advancement of laser itself and surgical techniques, the surgery became safe and effective. However there are some limitations. High myopia, high astigmatism and thin cornea are the major problems. For those patients, new alternative method such as phakic IOL and intracorneal ring (ICR) have been developed. In this symposium, I will cover the indication and results of LASIK as well as the outcome of recent alternative techniques.}, pages = {236--241}, title = {近視手術の現状2003(シンポジウム,近視は手術で治るか?-現状と是非-,第327回東京女子医科大学学会例会)}, volume = {73}, year = {2003} }
