We examined the pathological, clinical and electrophysiological characteristics of 23 patients who had RF, excluding those with myotonic dystrophy. Nineteen of the 23 patients had neurogenic diseases such as neuropathy, suggested by pathological and electrophysiological data. The results are consistent with the view that RF develops as a consequence of the denervation of muscle fibers. The presence of RF appears to be nonspecific, because the origin of RF is secondary degeneration. However, it is an important finding that the presence of RF may indicate the degenerative process of muscle fibers in neuromuscular diseases.}, pages = {E317--E322}, title = {神経筋疾患におけるring fiberの意義(神経内科学教室竹宮敏子教授退任記念特別号)}, volume = {70}, year = {2000} }
