The patients consisted of 92 males and 273 females. The male to female ratio was 1 : 3. A total of 42.2% of the patients were in their twenties, 19.2% in their thirties, and 13.2% in their teens. The age distribution curve showed one peak in the twenties. A single symptom was more common than multiple symptoms at the first visit to our clinic. TMJ and masticatory muscle pain was the most commonly observed (60.8%) among these symptoms. According to the classification proposed by the Japanese society for TMJ, 33.7% of the patients were classified as type I (masticatory muscle disorders), 12.1% as type II (capsule-ligament disorders), 32.6% as type IIIa (disc displacement without reduction), 15.9% as type IIIb (disc displacement with reduction), and 5.7% as type IV (degenerative joint disease). Treatment consisted of lead living condition that loading factor of TMJ (94.8%), therapeutic exercises (69.0%) and medication (46.8%).
