We stained biopsy specimens by Masson trichrome staining and immunohistochemical staining for type I・III・IV collagens, and classified the cases into 4 stages (F_0~F_3). The effect of IFN was correlated with quantity and genotype of HCV but not with a pathological stage. Hepatic fibrosis improved more significantly in responders than in non-responders in terms of both pathology and fibrogenesis serum markers. We concluded that IFN works indirectly on improvement of fibrosis by way of HCV clearance. Type I collagen was observed only in Glisson sheath. In F_1, but was additionally observed in the expanded fibrotic areas in F_2 and F_3. In improved cases, type III and type IV collagens appeared as pericellular fibrosis and thin septal fibrosis, with type I collagen was also present in the same area. These histological features may show the process of hepatic collagen degeneration.}, pages = {215--222}, title = {C型慢性肝炎のインターフェロン治療後の線維化の改善に関する検討}, volume = {68}, year = {1998} }
